California Menell

California Louise Teza Menell passed away on Feb. 4, 2013, at home in Grass Valley, Calif. She was 95.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 235 S. Church St., Grass Valley, Calif. Rev. Seth Kellerman will be officiating.

California was born Aug. 8, 1917, in San Francisco, Calif., to John and Juliet Larcombe.

She attended school at Lux High School for Girls in San Francisco. She married her first husband, Arnold Mark Teza, in 1936. In 1981, she married Louis Menell. She was a dedicated member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley. She also was a member of the Altar Guild and St. Catherine’s Guild in Grass Valley.

In the early years, she loved playing golf and then loved painting and sewing.

She is survived by her daughters, Adele Galuhn of Grass Valley, Joan Roberts of Sedona, Ariz.; granddaughter, Kristine Mills of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandson, David Mills of Los Angeles, Calif. nephew, Mark Caywood of Haley, Idaho.

California is preceded in death by her son, Robert Teza in 1968; first husband, Arnold Teza in 1977; brother, Louis Larcombe in 1996; and second husband, Louis Menell in 2004.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, KARE Crisis Nursery or Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
