Beatrice Bishop

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Beatrice Lois (Brevik) Bishop. She died peacefully Sept. 15, 2012, in McKinleyville, Calif. She was 86 years old.

A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley.

Beatrice was born June 27, 1926, in Blacktail, N.D., but spent much of her childhood in her beloved Williston. Moving to California as a young adult, she lived many years in both West Covina and La Verne. Bea and her husband, Bill, retired to Penn Valley, Calif., in 1982 where she spent many happy years serving her church and pursuing her many hobbies.

Bea is survived by her children, Janet (Jim) Young, Douglas (Linda) Mortenson and Thomas (Cheryl) Mortenson; as well as her stepdaughters, Candace Rende and Bridget (Stephen) Herrera. She is also survived by four other step-children; and more than 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bea is preceded in death by her husband, William Bishop; son Daniel Mortenson; stepchildren Dennis Bishop and Kathleen DeNoble; and previous husband Donald Mortenson.

Donations may be made in Bea’s name to Peace Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.
