Ardith Carolyn Solis

Ardith Carolyn Solis passed away peacefully at her home in Colfax on Oct. 5, 2013. She was 81.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at Crossroads Church on Wolf Road. Graveside service to follow at Forest View Cemetery in Nevada City.

Ardith was born on June 6, 1932, in Sacramento, Calif. to Charles and Hazel Porter.

She was raised in the Bay Area and often reminisced fondly about growing up around the ship yards during war time. Her high school education was completed at Richmond High.

In 1950, she married Arnold Solis and they had four daughters, Marcia (Ross), Melinda (Day), Michele (Nunnink) and Melanie (Glenn). In 1964, Arnold and Ardith opened the Mexican Villa Restaurant in Pinole, Calif. Driving through Grass Valley in 1971, they fell in love with the area and opened the Mexican Villa in Rough and Ready, Calif., eventually relocating to Colfax, Calif., to sell antiques as well as serve fine food. They enjoyed almost 40 years in the business, working with their children and treating their customers like family.

Ardith loved her family, the Giants, traveling, gambling, reading, the Church and most of all, Arnold.

She is survived by Arnold; her daughters; her twin sister, Ann; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Her family loves her very much and looks forward to seeing her again on the day her Savior promised.

Arrangements are in the care of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley.
