Anita Ray Siegfried Nicholas

Anita Ray Siegfried Nicholas passed away on Oct. 19, 2013. She was 82.

There are no services planned.

Anita was born in Gilroy, Calif., and graduated from Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, Calif. She was an outstanding athlete, lettering in many sports. At an early age she worked selling fruit to the local markets, where she met her future husband, John.

In 1959 they moved to Grass Valley, opening Pecks Fruit Stand in the Glenbrook Basin. Anita was a member of the Gold Dancers and the Rough and Ready Square Dance Clubs.

She is survived by her husband, Norman Nicholas of North Highlands; daughter, Pamela Anderson of Antelope; sons Roy Siegfried of Grass Valley and Joe Siegfried of Roseville; and grandchildren Alicia, Trevor, Carli and Jodie Siegfried.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Lester and Addie Shull; sisters Dottie Bartmess and Annette Rose; and brother, John Shull.

The family prefers remembrances to be donated to Hospice of the Foothills or the American Heart Association.
