Obitaury: Helen Doran

Graveside services for Helen A. Doran of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette.

Mrs. Doran died Tuesday, March 5, in Grass Valley. She was 91.



She was born March 4, 1911, in Pennsylvania to Albert Ulivitch and Anna Janik.




After nursing school, she served as a registered nurse in the U.S. Army. Mrs. Doran also worked as a registered nurse and a homemaker. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Senior Center and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting and bingo.

She is survived by her daughter, Margo C. Doran of Penn Valley; daughters and sons-in-law, Christine M. and Anthony Hayman of Penn Valley, and Helen “Cookie” and Tom DeGennaro of Sonora; sister Estelle Lulewicz of Pennsylvania; brother Henry Lulewicz of New York; and grandchildren, Heather Burns, Alex Burns, Nicholas Burns, Michael Suess, Adam Suess and Marybeth Hayman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Doran, in 1965.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sierra Services for the Blind, 546 Searls Ave., Nevada City 95959.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
