Obitauary: William Thomas

Services for William “Bill” Thomas of Nevada City will be conducted at a later date.

Mr. Thomas died Tuesday, Feb. 19, in San Francisco. He was 61.



He was born Sept. 13, 1940, in Texas to William and Ahlene Thomas. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He married Betty Gede on Nov. 21, 1975. He retired from the Operating Engineers Union Local No. 3 after 25 years of service.




He enjoyed welding, traveling, flying the American flag and being a handyman.

He is survived by wife, Betty Thomas of Nevada City; daughters Brenda Madsen of Modesto and Sherry Boundy of Grass Valley; stepson, Noel Cross of Seattle; sister, Mary Emma Alexander of Longview, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
