NU’s Student Choreography Showcase is this weekend

Friday and Saturday, junior and senior dance students will demonstrate their skills in dance and choreography at Nevada Union High School’s Don Baggett Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

Eleven dances, choreographed by advanced dance students, will be performed by 60 intermediate and advanced students in the hour-long program.

“It’s a chance,” said production assistant Dara Sharit, “to see what the kids, some of whom have been dancing since they were 7 years old, have learned.” According to Sharit, many of the students are making a commitment to dance in their future, and some have even been accepted in dance departments of prestigious colleges.

The $6 tickets can be purchased from The Book Seller in Grass Valley, from Odyssey Books and the Nevada Union student book store in Nevada City, and at the door. Proceeds will benefit the dance department.

Mark your calendar now for the school’s “Evening of Dance, May 6 and 7 and 12-14, featuring “Beauty and the Beast.”
