NUHS grad playing concert Saturday

As a gift to the community where he was raised, David Hicks will present a concert Saturday at the United Methodist Church of Grass Valley.

Hicks, a Nevada Union High School graduate, earned his bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Pacific. He is moving to Massachusetts to pursue a master’s degree at the Boston Conservatory.

Classically trained, Hicks will perform “La Donna e Mobile” from “Rigoletto” by Verdi, “Una furtive Lagrima” from “Elixir of Love” by Donizetta and selected other works.

He and his brother, Iaian Hicks, will perform a duet, “Pie Jesu” by Andrew Lloyd Weber.

Brothers in Song, a six-member NUHS male group, will share the stage and perform contemporary music a capella, including “Ave Maria” by Franz Bibel. Iaian Hicks is a member of Brothers in Song.

Saturday’s concert begins at 7:30 p.m. The church is at 236 S. Church St. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
