NU freshmen blow out Laguna Creek

The Nevada Union freshman football team dismantled host Laguna Creek 44-0 Thursday.

Thirteen different backs carried the ball for NU, piling up six touchdowns. Juan Espinoza carried the ball eight times for 53 yards and two touchdowns.

Drew Hoskin carried the ball five times for 35 yards and a TD. Vince Carrillo carried the ball six times for 40 yards. Kirby Hopper, Zack Vallejo, and Justin Fike each scored a touchdown.



The defense was led by Vallejo and Eric Niederberger with eight tackles each. Hopper, Chris Biertuempfel, Drew Walker, Nick Talbott, Cody Smith, and Daniel Badour each recovered a fumble.

Duncan Chapple and Hoskin each intercepted a pass.




The Miners (8-0) will host Elk Grove (8-0) at 6 p.m. Oct. 26. The winner will be the inaugural freshmen champions of the Delta Valley Conference.
