Norman Jacobson

Memorial services for Norman Jacobson of Lake of the Pines will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lake of the Pines Clubhouse.

Mr. Jacobson died Friday, June 11, in Lake of the Pines. He was 76.

He was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Frederick, S.D. At a young age, he moved to Berkeley with his family. He enjoyed spending time at the Berkeley Y.M.C.A.

He married Dorie Symington in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army for two and a half years during the Korean War.

He was president of the Albany Booster Club, a member of the Albany Planning and Zoning Commission, and president of the Albany Junior Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed coaching Albany Little League for 12 years and enjoyed years of CYO basketball.

He was a general contractor in the Bay Area until moving to the Sierra Foothills in 1975, where he became a building inspector for Nevada County. He later worked as a lumber salesman at Diamond International Lumber Company.

He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, camping with his family and playing pinochle and cribbage.

He is survived by his children Bonny, Bob and Sandy; son-in-law, Phil Martin; daughter-in-law, Nan; grandchildren Zach, Sarah, Kallee and Stacey; grandson-in-law, Dusty; and great-grandson, Aden.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
