No more Tea Party, please

I was very disappointed that the The Union saw fit to devote almost three pages and multiple pictures to Mark Meckler of the local Tea Party movement in the Feb. 27 paper. I don’t need to hear any more about this movement, a conservative group backed by corporate interests, despite what this man states.

In profiling this group, Newsweek Magazine states that it is primarily comprised of older white people. These are the same people who use and demand Medicare and Social Security, entitlement programs that make up a huge part of our national deficit. If they are so concerned about fiscal responsibility, the members of this group should willingly give up these benefits, a gesture that would actually have meaning.

Also, if this group is nonpartisan, why was it not in existence during the Bush administration, which ran up the bulk of the huge deficit we are dealing with today?

Again, back to The Union. If you are fair and balanced, you would now profile the leaders of the local Democrat and Republican parties. I would actually rather you provide more actual state, national and international news. The Union is, after all, a newspaper!
