No injuries in Hwy 49 bridge wreck

No injuries were reported Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident in which a driver collided with the Highway 49 railing at the Yuba River bridge crossing, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver, Robert Taylor, a 44-year-old Grass Valley resident, reportedly approached the bridge curve around 11:30 a.m., but veered straight, colliding with the railing of the bridge on the opposite side of the roadway, said CHP Officer Folke Lilyquist.

While Taylor had no reported injuries, Lilyquist said his vehicle, a Grand Cherokee Jeep, sustained major damage.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been a factor, Lilyquist said.
