NID to run Orchard Springs Resort this year

Two private proposals to run the beleaguered Orchard Springs Resort at Rollins Lake were unanimously rejected by the Nevada Irrigation District Board this morning.

Instead, the district will run the southern Nevada County resort and campground this season. The proposals from recently ousted concessionaire Bil Hanan and his predecessor, Ed Vincent, were rejected with no comment.

The action paves the way to evict Hanan from the NID-owned resort land, where he has a modular home. It also will allow NID to begin eviction proceedings on three remaining long-term residents at the campground who would not sign agreements to be out by April 15.

Fourteen residents have already vacated the campground and eight others have agreed to be out by mid-April. Still looming over the situation is the possibility of lawsuits.
