Volunteers needed to deliver meals to homebound seniors

Have you ever stopped to consider the value of three hours of your time? To a homebound senior waiting to receive Meals on Wheels, those three hours are priceless. The aging population is escalating rapidly and so is the need for volunteers in Western Nevada County. While there are currently 50 volunteers who drive one day per week to ensure that our elderly neighbors receive the nutritional support they need to remain in their own homes, more are needed.

Call today to find out how easy and rewarding it can be to make a difference to a senior that is homebound due to illness, recovery, or disability.

Responsibilities and requirements include:

• A commitment to volunteer one day per week for a two to three hour period of time.

• A reliable vehicle, a current California driver’s license, automobile insurance and a clean DMV record (mileage reimbursement available).

• The ability to read maps, use a GPS and/or have a good sense of direction (a cell phone is also helpful).

• Completing the application and passing a background check.

Training is provided and mileage reimbursements are available. For more information, please contact our nutrition manager, Charity at 530-273-4961.
