United Way of Nevada County’s Blanket Drive ends soon

There’s still time to donate to United Way of Nevada County’s Blanket and Glove Drive for the homeless in Nevada County. Donate blankets, sleeping bags and gloves and help the homeless stay warm this winter. Collection of items ends December 9.

Drop off locations include Walker’s Office Supplies, J.C. Penney, B&C True Value Home Center, Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce, Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, Bank of America (Sutton Way and S. Church St. branches), Bank of the West (Taylorville Rd.) Sammy’s Friends, and the United Way office (call first), located at 743 Maltman Dr. in Grass Valley.

Help keep the homeless warm with by donating new or gently used blankets (preferably twin size), sleeping bags and/or women’s, men’s and children’s gloves. Everything collected will stay in our community.

This year’s United Way community impact areas are education, income and health. In the impact area of education, they are helping children and adults achieve their potential through education and mentoring programs. In the impact area of income, they are helping families and seniors become financially stable and independent by supporting basic needs. Through the impact area of health, they are improving people’s health by increasing access to critical healthcare services, reducing substance abuse, child abuse, and domestic violence. United Way is creating opportunities by focusing on these three building blocks for a good life.
