Transgender panel at PFLAG support meeting Tuesday

PFLAG will host a panel of parents and transgender on Tuesday, March 24 in celebration of International Transgender Day of Visibility, which happens on March 31.

PFLAG’s goal is to help raise awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people around the world. The Nevada County chapter of PFLAG has seen an increase in parents of transgender youth come to meetings for support regarding family changes and to get more information. PFLAG often makes referrals to other agencies, such as the Gender Health Center in Sacramento and counselors when appropriate.

Tuesday’s panel will be composed of parents and teens with a range of perspectives. The PFLAG support meeting is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the panel will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains, 246 South Church Street in Grass Valley.
