A “Superhero” exhibit is now on display through March 11 at Baskin Robbins ice cream shop in Grass Valley. The exhibit is created by Community Canvas’s students in the after school art enrichment at Deer Creek School in Nevada City. In an effort to promote art and literacy among students in grades K-5, the project involved creating mixed media “masterpieces” on canvas. Utilizing comic books, students studied pop art, including that of Roy Lichtenstein, Ben-Day dots and onomatopoeia words, which they included in their pieces. Baskin Robbins is located at 151 W. McKnight Way in Grass Valley.
