Soroptimists honor examplary community members

Soroptimist International of the Sierra Foothills honored the following community members with awards, scholarships and a gift for their exemplary efforts. Amy Bouch, Scott Jensen, Stephanie Terrassa, MacKayla Carolan, Nora Devlin and Emma Jones were recently given awards by Soroptimist International of the Sierra Foothills.

The Live Your Dream Award is given to women who have the courage and determination to overcome adversity and strive to better their lives and their families’ lives. The Lark Zachary Award is given to a person who exemplifies outstanding commitment to serving others. The Community Service Award is given to those who were outstanding in their efforts to serve the community.

Soroptimist International is a nonprofit service organization of women helping women and children both locally and internationally. Proceeds from our primary fundraiser, the annual garden tour, funds the awards along with grants to nonprofits that serve women and children.



The 2015 Garden Tour will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17. Each day, guests can view six privately owned gardens in the foothills of Grass Valley and Nevada City. The tour takes approximately four to five hours, or can be split up between Saturday and Sunday. For more information about the 22nd Annual Garden Tour, visit http://www.sierrasoroptimist.org.
