Seminar in Nevada City addresses GMO labeling

A First Tuesday educational seminar sponsored by The Nevada County Democrats will address topics surrounding GMO labeling and the future. The seminar, featuring Chris Maher, will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, in the dining room of the Nevada City Veterans Hall at 415 N. Pine Street in Nevada City. Maher, general manager of the BriarPatch Co-op in Grass Valley, is a native New Yorker who has been working in the cooperative world for 12 years. Also a trained chef, Maher led a strong effort to pass Proposition 37 requiring the labeling of genetically modified food during the 2012 November general election. He has worked very closely with the Yes on Prop 37 organization and continues to work on this issue.
