Scooter’s Pals fundraiser a success

“Buford,” Scooter’s Pals founder Susan Wallace’s pit bull terrier, is pictured eagerly awaiting his smooch from Pat Cobler at Scooter’s Pals’ fifth annual Silent Auction and Spaghetti Feed Saturday night in Nevada City at Pioneer Park. More than 200 animal lovers were in attendance in support of homeless, abandoned dogs. In addition, Frankie’s Fund (named in honor of the dog who was tied to a tree and shot in the mouth) was born to provide future emergency medical needs for dogs that don’t have public exposure like Frankie.

Frankie will undergo reconstructive surgery on his jaw this coming week at UC Davis Vet Small Animal Hospital thanks to the outpouring of support that raised enough to pay for his repair. An extraordinarily happy life is expected for Frankie, and the new fund named in his honor will help other dogs in need just as deserving. Those interested in contributing to Frankie’s Fund may contact Scooter’s Pals at (530) 350-2099 or make a donation online on the organization’s website at
