Parent info meetings for new Pleasant Ridge charter school

Arete Charter Academy will be hosting parent information meetings at 5 p.m. on July 20 and 10 a.m. on July 25. The kindergarten through eighth grade academy is a new home school charter program launched by the Pleasant Ridge Union School District. Meetings will take place at Magnolia School in Room 7 and will give parents the opportunity to meet director Sarah Schwartz and learn about the curriculum. Schwartz, who has been with the district for 17 years, is also the lead teacher.

“We’ve had a lot of interest in the program and have been diligently reviewing and creating curriculum that will challenge and meet the needs of many students and families,” Schwartz said. The goals of the academy are to provide an alternative approach to education built on customized learning for families who embrace the responsibility of educating their children at home. While there will be classroom time and instruction, students will have the opportunity to take online classes and receive on site enrichment and resources. Magnolia School is located at 22431 Kingston Lane in Grass Valley. For more information, visit http://arete.prsd.us or call 530-268-2800.
