October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and while domestic violence happens all year, this month represents an opportunity to take action against this issue. The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalition has partnered with several local businesses to raise money for victims and survivors of interpersonal violence in Nevada County. The Nevada City Northridge and Smith Vineyards have agreed to donate a portion of their proceeds from designated days in October to DVSAC. On Monday, Oct. 7, from 5 to 9 p.m., dine at Northridge (773 Nevada St. in Nevada City) or order food to go and help the restaurant support our community. The Smith Vineyard is also joining our work to end domestic violence and raise awareness in October. It will be donating a portion of the proceeds from Saturday, Oct. 12, from noon to 7 p.m., from their tasting room in downtown Grass Valley (142 Mill St.) or their vineyards (13719 Dog Bar Road).
