NID board member to discuss water

Nevada Irrigation District board member Nancy Weber will be the speaker at the September dinner meeting of Business and Professional Women of Nevada County. The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Summer Thyme’s Bakery & Deli, 213 Colfax Ave. in Grass Valley. Members of the public are invited.

Weber will discuss where western Nevada County water comes from, where it’s going (e.g., not always to Nevada County residents) and what the future holds. She will also speak about her role as the only woman on the board of the NID, and how the drought affects the residents of our county.

Weber, who lives in rural Nevada City, has represented NID’s Division 1 region since 1998. She is the second woman in history to serve on the NID governing board. The cost is $19 per person. Pre-paid reservations are required for members and guests by 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 14; visit http://www.bpwnevadacounty.org. For more information, call Mona Matthias at 530-477-8034.
