On Jan. 23, the Nevada Union FFA Natural Resources Team travelled to Reedley College to compete at the California FFA Natural Resources State Finals Contest in Reedley, California.

The Natural Resources Contest is a winter team that consists of mule packing, plant and animal identification, common knowledge and a skills test. These contests take place throughout California from November through January. Students begin practicing for this contest in September of each year. The students attend mule packing lessons, weekly practices with Nevada Union FFA’s coach, and put in hours of studying.

This year’s state finalist team consisted of Cole Jarvis, Elijah Ferguson, Tyler Warner and Anna Woodall. The team has been working hard these past few months and it has paid off. The team came home with the title of the California State FFA Natural Resources Fourth Place Finalists.
