Nevada County’s League of Women Voters campaigning to ‘get out the vote’

In preparation for the upcoming election, The League of Women Voters is joining forces with other community organizations for a “Get Out the Vote,” or GOTV, campaign. As a result, the League is providing an informational training session at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley. Those interested in joining or partnering with the League, are encouraged to attend the panel presentation, “League of Women Voters; Past, Present and Future.” Panelists from the League of Women Voters of California (the state league) will include Trudy Schafer, California lobbyist and senior director of program, as well as advisers Roseanna Torretto and Barbara Hopkins. After the 10 a.m. presentation, there will be time for informal “break-out” conversations and a bring-your-own bag lunch. The program concludes at 3 p.m.

Peace Lutheran Church is located at 828 West Main St. in Grass Valley. The meeting is open to the public.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
