Nevada City’s Constitution Parade winners announced

The winners at Nevada City’s 2016 Constitution Parade on Sept. 11 include:

Best in Parade: U.S. Submarine Veterans, first place; Nevada County Cinderella Project, second place; Seven Hills Bicycle Recycle Project, third place; “Uncle Sam and Betsy Ross,” honorable mention.

Best Historical Unit: California Consolidated Drum Band and Delaware Regiment, first place; Sons of the American Revolution, second place; Daughters of the American Revolution, third place; Nevada City Fire Dept., honorable mention.

Best Float: Merry Widows Society, first place; Reno Rodeo Association, second place; Kiwanis Club, third place; E. Clampus Vitus, honorable mention.

Best Marching Unit: Nevada Union High School Band, first place; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2655, second place; Marching Presidents, third place; Kings Dancers, honorable mention.

Best Musical Group: Sacramento Youth Band, first place; Union Hill Marching Band, second place; Lyman Gilmore Band, third place.

Mayor’s Choice: Bear River High School Band, first place; Vietnam Veterans of America, second place; CHP Mounted Patrol, third place; Shelly’s Smart Shopper, honorable mention.
