Latin American professor to give talk on Venezuela in Grass Valley

Miguel Tinker Salas, Latin American historian, author and professor at Pomona College, will give a talk about Venezuela at 7 p.m. Friday at the Nevada City United Methodist Church, at 433 Broad St. Salas’ 2014 book, “Venezuela: What Everyone Needs to Know,” will be incorporated into his talk. On March 8, President Obama issued an executive order declaring a national emergency, calling Venezuela “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.” The presentation is sponsored by The Church and Society Committee of the Nevada City United Methodist Church in coordination with the Sacramento Action for Latin America, also known as SALA.
