Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce endorses Measure N

The Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recently voted to endorse Measure N. The measure will restore critical police and fire personnel, according to a release by the chamber on Wednesday, along with providing for the replacement of essential vehicles, radios and fire engines. Significant street improvements will also be made with the passage of the sales tax increase.

The measure also provides a one-half percent increase in local sales tax for a 10-year period or less and would create an independent citizens oversight committee and audit of the funds to ensure the money is spent for intended purposes. Measure N is only in the city of Grass Valley — all revenues remain local for Grass Valley services and cannot be taken by state and federal governments.

“Passage of Measure N will utilize 100 percent of the revenue for police, fire and city street maintenance,” said Chamber President and CEO Mary Ann Van Meter. “The strength and well-being of our community relies on providing these critical services for the city of Grass Valley.”
