Friendship Club Leadership Council hosts spaghetti dinner and dessert auction fundraiser in Grass Valley

Submitted to The Union

The Friendship Club Leadership Council will be hosting a spaghetti dinner and dessert auction fundraiser on Nov. 5. The Leadership Council is comprised of 15 young women in grades 7 through 12 who meet monthly to enhance skills related to leadership such as public speaking and project planning, and serve as role models for their peers. This group also commits to additional community service, beyond what they participate in through their normal Friendship Club activities, completing 40+ hours per girl per year. As part of their learning, the participants in this group organize and execute a fundraiser for The Friendship Club. Now in its 5th year, the Spaghetti Dinner provides an opportunity for the young leaders to put their skills to practice — they produce the posters and advertisements, sell tickets, decorate, shop for the food, cook the meal, serve the dinner to the guests, solicit donations for the dessert auction, etc. This is truly a youth-organized and run event. All proceeds benefit The Friendship Club programs and activities.

The fundraiser will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on November 5 at the Grass Valley Veteran’s Memorial Building, 255 South Auburn Street in Grass Valley.

Tickets purchased in advance are $7, and tickets purchased at the door are $10. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.friendshipclub.org or at The Friendship Club.
