Flag retirement in September; drop-off locations around Nevada County

Boy Scout Troop 855 will be holding their annual flag retirement ceremony during the Roamin’ Angels Car Show on Sept. 12.

Flags in need of disposal can be dropped off at the following locations through Sept. 10:

— The Union newspaper office on Sutton Way in Grass Valley.



— Bank of America on Sutton Way in the Brunswick Basin.

— Bank of America on Church Street in Downtown Grass Valley.




— Tri-Counties Bank on Neal Street in Downtown Grass Valley.

— Tri-Counties Bank on Sutton Way in Grass Valley; Tri Counties Bank Nevada City.

The annual flag retirement ceremony will be at dusk in the camping area — near the livestock corrals — at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

Troop 855 receives hundreds of flags each year in need of a dignified and proper retirement. Members of the community are welcome to attend the ceremony. For more information, contact Yolanda Bodine at 530-470-3798.
