Emerald Growers Association hosts introductory meetings

The Emerald Growers Association is starting a new chapter in Nevada County and it is hosting a Meet and Greet Friday, April 3, at the North San Juan Community Center (formerly the Senior Center), from 3-7 p.m. There will be an introduction to the goals of this group from 3-4 p.m., followed by a Q&A from 4-5 p.m., then they move outside for a free organic taco bar with all the fixings, beer and live music provided by Wonderfunk.

For those who do not want to drive to North San Juan, there will be a similar event in Nevada City from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, at the Haven, Heartbass will perform following the Meet & Greet ($10 at the door).

One of the primary goals of the association is to promote organic growing standards for small cultivators and to develop brands based on locale, like Nevada County Sungrown. This will ensure that local growers are not frozen out after legalization and will create a marketplace among the commercial developers.
