Detours, roadwork announced

Caltrans is alerting motorists to expect a full detour of eastbound Interstate 80 at Rainbow Road from 5 p.m. Sunday through 10 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to replace a failing culvert. The replacement is necessary to prevent a sinkhole from forming in the area.

All motorists will be directed off eastbound I-80 at the Rainbow Road off-ramp and immediately back to the interstate via the Rainbow Road on-ramp. Delays of up to 15 minutes can be expected.

Unexpected weather or other events may prolong or cause the work to be rescheduled. Caltrans urges motorists to use caution in this area and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

In Grass Valley, Dorsey Drive, between East Main Street and Pampas Drive, will be subject to traffic control for road/bridge work Monday through Friday. The Traffic Control System will utilize one-way traffic control between the hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (weather permitting). Every effort will be made to accommodate motorists in a timely manner; however, delays of up to five minutes may be possible.
