Bridge club and classes

The Duplicate Bridge Club meets at the Golden Empire Grange. The weekly schedule is: Monday at 9:30 a.m.; Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.; Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.; Thursday at 1 p.m. (this game is at Eskaton); and Friday at 12:30 p.m.

Free bridge lessons and mentoring are available. Bridge players should be intermediate players who want to improve their game or those who have played years ago and want to get back to playing for fun while stimulating the mind. The club is teaching the New Standard American System, which is played by 90 percent of the duplicate players in our club and most tournament players. There are “Life Masters” and advanced players monitoring every table, who analyze every hand, bidding and play. Newcomers will learn the duplicate game and can reach the point where they can join our duplicate club and compete with the players there.

These classes begin on Sept. 11 and meet every Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. A commitment of four weeks is requested. For more info, email Bill Jones at bill8jones@yahoo.com or call 530-457-7841.
