Binding together  for good cause

Nevada County will be hosting its 17th annual book sale in the lobby of the Rood Center beginning Monday, Oct. 15, in the lobby of Rood Center in Nevada City.

All proceeds go to United Way of Nevada County and its 20 local Partner Agencies and the sale is open to the public.

There are a variety of books on hand, including children’s, cookbooks, fiction and nonfiction.

This event is just one of many Nevada County is hosting to benefit United Way of Nevada County.

This year’s United Way community impact areas are education, income and health.

In education, United Way is helping children and adults achieve their potential through education and mentor programs.

For income, the organization is helping families and seniors become financially stable and independent by supporting basic needs.

Lastly, the United Way is improving people’s health by increasing access to critical health care services, reducing substance abuse, child abuse and domestic violence.

United Way is creating opportunities by focusing on these three building blocks for a good life.
