The Beatles tribute band Because performed at the Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Building on South Auburn Street Nov. 10 to an audience of all ages. The event was a fundraiser for Sierra Nevada Community Health Plan, which works with Susan G. Koman to bring grants to Nevada County for free mammograms for the uninsured. Performing the mammograms is Dr. Melisa Agness, radiologist and owner of Insight Imaging in Grass Valley. Dr. Agness is a member of The BAM Project (A Christian Business Womens Organization in Nevada County). The “BAMMERS” rallied together to provide ticket sales at their businesses, including: A to Z Garden Supply, AMAH Homecare Inc., Century 21, Davis Realty, Delta Home Loans, Insight Imaging, M3 Mall, Party Time and Tupperware by Kelly Ogren. Producer John Zurflueh of Starlight Productions said he hopes to bring the band back in 2013.
