New webcams give live glimpses of downtown Nevada City

Improved webcams are up and running in downtown Nevada City, capturing street shots every 20 seconds and providing a worldwide window to Broad Street.

“You can take a look here and see the events,” said Doug Behl of Nevada City-based Malibu Software Group, which purchased an installed the cameras.

The photos can be found at http://nevadacitywebcam.com .

Webcams are popular in California cities and tourists destinations, and give would-be tourists a feel for the town.

The cameras will be rolling this weekend, when tens of thousands of people are expected to crowd the streets to see the starting leg of the Amgen Tour of California bike race, said Malibu Vice President Diane Krenik.
