New Taco Bell could open within two weeks

The new Taco Bell in the Glenbrook Basin could open in the next week or two, according to Gary Seims with the local franchise.

“We’re a little behind because of the weather,” said Seims, director of operations for the franchise. Inclement weather in March put the project at 109 Olympic Park Road behind, he said.

Wiring and ceiling tile work remain unfinished along with “a lot of little things,” Seims said Tuesday.

When finished the project is expected to have a gold mining motif, Seims said.

The architecture will blend in with the new Gold Miners Inn-Holiday Inn Express in the downtown, Seims said.

The previous Taco Bell torn down and being replaced by the new structure was more than 20 years old and in need of updating because of daily use, Seims said.
