New KVMR general manager named

By unanimous vote, the KVMR board of directors has appointed David Levin as the next general manager of KVMR radio. On Wednesday, Levin accepted the position and plans to arrive during the week of April 10.

According to Don Kewman, treasurer of the board, all the input provided by those who met the general manager candidates was seriously considered. Each of the three finalists, who participated in public forum interviews, had significant strengths that would make them good general managers, but Kewman said the board decided Levin had the best mix of attributes that it thought KVMR needed during the next five to 10 years.

Levin brings a variety of media experience to KVMR. He currently is a media consultant in Chicago. He was managing director of the Chicago Jazz Ensemble from 2004-06; vice president of WFMT Radio Networks and interim general manager of WFMT The Fine Arts Station from 1986-2002; station manager of WILL-TV, AM-FM at the University of Illinois from 1982-1986; and general manager of Georgia Public Broadcasting, “Savannah’s first public radio station,” from its inception in 1979 until 1982.
