New California flu strain could affect vaccine

Next year’s flu vaccine may protect against a new strain of flu found in Santa Clara County this year that’s been named A/California and made people cough, sneeze and ache across the state.

Whether there will be a timely delivery and enough of that vaccine to treat the state for the 2005-2006 flu season is still unknown, while the 2004-2005 flu season continues.
