Nevada Union High grad wins scholarship from Grocers Association

Joslyn Fillman

Joslyn Fillman, of Grass Valley, has been awarded a 2016-17 North State Grocery Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 through the California Grocers Association Educational Foundation.

Fillman graduated from Nevada Union High school. She will attend Saint Mary’s College of California this fall and major in English literature. Her accomplishments include continuing her education and pursuing a Ph.D. in English literature.

Foundation scholarships are awarded annually to college students who are either employees or dependents of California Grocers Association member companies, such as North State Grocery, Inc. — Holiday Market.



College scholarships are awarded on academic merit, evidence of outstanding character and leadership potential. Applicants must enroll at an accredited college or university in the United States in the fall.

This year, the CGA Educational Foundation awarded 371 scholarships totaling a record $588,100. Since the program’s inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $4.6M in scholarship awards.
