UPDATE: Nevada County crash victim life-flighted

A crash involving a motorcycle and a 4Runner sent one person to a regional hospital via helicopter Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported just after 11 a.m. Tuesday on Lower Colfax Road near Karrys Place, said Officer Mike Steele.

Steele said Rebecca Schiros, 59, of Hyampom, was driving the 4Runner northbound on Lower Colfax Road when she turned left directly into the path of a Kawasaki motorcycle being driven southbound by David Dalmau, 34, of Grass Valley.

The two vehicles collided “pretty much head-on,” Steele said.
Dalmau was ejected and landed some distance from the point of impact, he said.

Dalmau was life-flighted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with major injuries, Steele said. His condition was not available Tuesday afternoon.
Drugs, alcohol and excessive speed were not believed to have been a factor in the collision, Steele said.
