Nevada City man faces caustic chemical assault charge

Ethan Woodbury Blair

A Nevada City man accused of throwing bleach on his victim made bail after his weekend arrest, authorities said.

Ethan Woodbury Blair, 21, faces two felony charges: assault with a caustic chemical and vandalism. Arrested Saturday, Blair has since made his $50,000 bond, reports state.

Nevada City police say the victim on April 23 told officers that Blair threw bleach on him and kicked his car in the 200 block of Spring Street.

“The report said that Blair accused (the victim) of stealing marijuana,” Lt. Paul Rohde said. “Nobody had any marijuana.”

The victim was treated at the hospital, and officers began looking for Blair. Police found him this weekend in the 200 block of Broad Street. He was booked early Saturday into jail, authorities said.

Prosecutors said Monday they hadn’t yet decided whether to file a criminal complaint against Blair. A decision is expected by today.

“We just have to review it,” Assistant District Attorney Chris Walsh said.
