Nevada City is Foothill’s home

As a business owner in Nevada City, I place great value on all the businesses within our historic district as well as all of those within other areas of our town. It was with deep regret that we all recently learned the extent of the financial difficulties facing the Foothill Theatre Company.

I extend my personal best wishes to them in getting back up on their feet and appreciate the outpouring of community generosity to help them get there. It is my hope that these efforts will succeed and that they will be able to redefine themselves for a more secure and enduring future.

As a member of the Nevada City Downtown Association, I can see and fully appreciate the strength and added prosperity the Foothill Theatre Company brings to our retail, food and beverage service businesses, and overnight lodging enterprises. As the number of questions being asked continues to increase, I would like to point out a few examples of what we have been doing to help out.

Our association was pleased to help create “Opening Night,” a special relationship with some of our restaurants to make attending Foothill productions even more attractive and enjoyable than it already is. You may recall the klieg lights we secured and employed to draw further attention to the opening of the season’s first Foothill production.

Recently we were successful in producing a stimulating Comcast Video commercial that is airing broadly in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as the greater Sacramento metropolitan area. Four Nevada City businesses were featured and one was the Foothill Theatre Company in an effort to further increase attendance at their next two productions.

We believe the proper home for the Foothill Theatre Company is in downtown Nevada City. We will continue to work diligently to promote their productions and help secure that future in our community.
