Nevada City City Council meeting tonight

Nevada City City Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall in Nevada City.

City Manager Mark Miller is scheduled to discuss FEMA Disaster Assistance. Nevada County was recently made one of the counties eligible to receive disaster assistance for heavy storms that occurred from Dec. 17, 2005 to Jan. 3, 2006.

37 local residents have currently filed for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance, according to an official with the federal agency. FEMA representatives said they are currently trying to raise awareness in the area among people who could be applying for funds.

Reports are also scheduled to be given by the Fire Department and by the City Engineer, who will speak about the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Also on the agenda is Nevada City’s plan to make several proclamations regarding Women’s History Month, Child Abuse Prevention Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month and National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
