Nellie Stone

Nellie Fern Stone of Grass Valley died Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Grass Valley. She was 92.

No services are planned.

Mrs. Stone was born on Aug. 23, 1910, in West Point, Ill., to Roy Carr and Mary Clampitt. She graduated from high school and business college. She married Chester Arthur Stone on Sept. 6, 1930, in Lewiston, Wash. She was retired from real estate sales. She enjoyed gardening, travel and raising birds.



She is survived by her daughters Patricia Peters of Borrego Springs, and Marilyn Butcher of Indio; grandsons Richard Stone of Grass Valley, Brian Butcher of Sacramento, Mark Butcher of El Paso, Texas, and David Grimes of Norwood, Colo.; granddaughters Melanie Butcher of Santa Rosa and Cheryl LaRosa, Katherine Grimes and Tammy Heafel of Indio; and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Arthur Stone.




Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
