Myrtle Ray obituary

Graveside services for Myrtle Christine Ray of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Ray died Saturday, July 9. She was 85.

She was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Cedar Glades, Ark., to Horace Leslie and Mary Herron Johnson. She attended school through the eighth grade and married Odas B. Ray on Dec. 20, 1941, in Hot Springs, Ark. She worked at Humpty Dumpty, and Levitt’s Drugstore. She enjoyed bingo at the Veterans Hall, and family celebrations.

She is survived by sons Otis Len Ray of Grass Valley, and Ronald G. Ray of Chico; stepdaughter Bonnie Sue Everest of Citrus Heights; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odas B. Ray in 1982; brothers George W. Johnson, Evin W. Johnson, and Parnell Johnson; and sisters Maudeen Johnson, Pauline Johnson, and Louvenia Knolls.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
