Myrtle Gilbert

Myrtle Gilbert, 92, of Nevada City, died Friday, Dec. 6, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services.



Mrs. Gilbert was born on April 27, 1910, in Sedan Union, N.M., to Hiram and Rita (Durgeloh) Wright. She married Fred Gilbert on Aug. 8, 1943, in Reno. She worked as a welder for the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was also a farmer. She enjoyed raising goats and taking care of her large gardens.

She is survived by her nieces Nancy A. Moncree of Nevada City; and Barbara Fisher, Doris Dunn and Rita Reichert, all of Antelope.




She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Gilbert, in January 1983.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
