Mumbo Gumbo to get SYRCL soiree goin’

Can’t decide if you want to dance to American pop, blues, zydeco, Tex-Mex, New Orleans Voodoo Mambo, reggae or rock ‘n’ roll?

Friday, you don’t have to make up your mind.

When Mumbo Gumbo takes the stage at the South Yuba River Citizens League’s annual membership party in Nevada City, you can hear it all.

The popular seven-piece band from Davis plays originals and covers, such as Todd Rundgren’s “Bang On the Drum” and Jimmy Cliff’s “Sitting in Limbo.”

Mumbo Gumbo has won several SAMMIEs, annual awards that recognize Sacramento area musicians, for best world music band. Mumbo Gumbo was the first inductee into the SAMMIEs Hall of Fame.

Tickets are $10 for current SYRCL members or those joining at the door, and $15 for non-members.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the music starts at 8 p.m. at Miners Foundry Cultural Center, 325 Spring St.

Call SYRCL at 265-5961 with any questions.
