Mother Goose and friends seen in new personalities

Mother Goose, Simple Simon, Cinderella and Rapunzel will be presented in a new light the next two weekends at Miners Foundry Cultural Center when the Nevada County Performing Arts Guild presents the musical “Mother Goose, Inc.”

For the next two weekends, the maternal figure is the overworked chief executive of her own production company who needs a vacation because of job stress. When Simple Simon takes over the company, power goes to his head. Joining him will be familiar characters with funny personality twists, such as a sweet and cute Cinderella who is used to happy endings, a Rapunzel with problem hair, Goldilocks with a sweet tooth, the Grimm brothers in competition with Mother Goose, the overly happy Dwarfs and Snow White turned into a demanding diva.

Twenty-six youth are in the Performing Arts Guild’s all-ages musical. Director Paulette Rudolph is assisted by Susheela Farrell and Erin Minett.
