More than 480 lightning strikes in TNF this weekend

Lightning strikes lit five small blazes in the Tahoe National Forest this weekend, officials said.

U.S. Forest Service personnel recorded 484 lightning strikes between Saturday and Sunday- more than 400 Sunday afternoon and evening alone, said Forest Service Spokeswoman Ann Westling.

All of the fires were lit northeast of Sierraville and Loyalton, Westling said. They were generally single-tree blazes and were quickly contained by fire crews and engines, Westling said.
